The section serves as a liaison between the Department’s 12 institutes, the DSSTTA Directorate, the central offices of the CNR, and key European stakeholders, fostering scientific and technological synergies aligned with European priorities.

Key objectives include supporting participation in European research and innovation programs, consolidating strategic partnerships with universities, research institutions, European infrastructures, and networks, as well as leveraging the scientific and technological expertise of the Department’s Institutes.

The section also promotes activities aimed at monitoring European policies and opportunities, supporting the planning and establishment of international consortia, analyzing the Department’s performance in Europe, and disseminating strategic information internally through networking, training, and capacity-building initiatives.

Through an integrated and multidisciplinary approach, the European Activities section helps strengthen the DSSTTA’s capacity to generate high-impact research and innovation, fostering international collaboration and knowledge transfer to address environmental challenges and support Europe’s ecological transition.
