On September 19, 2025, Japanese and Italian scientists will engage in a bilateral exchange of research experiences on five key environmental themes: biodiversity, sea, polar regions, climate change, and natural hazards. Organised by the Department of Earth System Sciences and Technologies for the Environment of Italy’s National Research Council (CNR), the programme highlights how scientific knowledge—anchored in memory and data—is essential for understanding environmental changes and increasing resilience to global challenges.

Europe and Italy are adopting a number of strategies and policies towards Africa that reflect a growing focus on the continent and a willingness to strengthen scientific cooperation and strategic partnerships there with a particular focus on initiatives to address the challenges of climate change and environmental protection.
