In a new study, a group of researchers from the University of Groningen who have joined forces as the Groningen Microbiome Team have shown that your genes influence the composition of your gut microbiome. Serena Sanna, now Director of Research at the Cnr-Irgb Institute has coordinated this study together with Prof. Alexandra Zhernakova, University of Groningen. The results of the study and a preview of the expected challenges and future perspectives of microbiome studies signed by the same authors are published in two articles in Nature Genetics
