The environment can be studied and understood by integrating measurements and modeling approach. The Department takes both approaches but has in the collection of environmental data, remotely and in situ, a genuine strength throughout the country for both measurements in the atmosphere, on soils and in urban centers, and in coastal and marine areas, including the deep sea.
