The Department has issued the Notice “GEONEXT – Geoscienze per il futuro, with which it intends to promote both the strengthening of fundamental research in the field of geosciences within the CNR, creating a cohesive and interdisciplinary network of geoscientists within the institution that expands and consolidates national and international leadership, and the development of structured collaborations with external institutions, also with a view to developing the ability to attract funding.

The project activities will be funded with resources from the FOE NATURAL CAPITAL project for the development of research proposals focused on one of the four research lines identified in the call, but also capable of spanning them:
1. Geological Dynamics and Natural Hazards
Study of processes related to the seismotectonic, magmatic, and morphological evolution of the lithosphere and the resulting natural hazards.
2. Climatic and Geological Evolution in the Quaternary
Studies on paleoclimate, environmental dynamics, and geological changes that occurred during the Quaternary.
3. Genesis of Mineral and Energy Georesources
Study of the geological and geochemical processes that lead to the formation and location of mineral and energy georesources.
4. Environmental Changes in the Past and Present
Interdisciplinary study of the natural and anthropogenic processes that have determined and continue to determine the evolution of terrestrial environments.
The projects have a duration of two years and a maximum funding of 125.000,00 €.
Application deadline: 6:00 PM on July 15, 2025
