DNAqua-Net is an EU-funded network initiative to develop new genetic tools for bioassessment of aquatic ecosystems in Europe and there are currently 31 nations parties that has signed up as participants.
Italy is formally represented in the COST-Action DNAqua-Net by Diego Fontaneto (CNR-ISE) and Stefano Fazi (CNR-IRSA) as members of the Management Committee, and with Angela Boggero (CNR-ISE) and Matteo Montagna (University of Milano) as substitutes.
The COST-Action had its inaugural meeting in Brussels on October 20th to formalize agreements with the COST association and agree on working groups and the goals and deliverables of the project. The meeting was positive and constructive and paved the way for future activities. Especially two decisions are important for us to inform you about, most of the information is now also online on the new website (www.dnaqua.net):
1. There will be a kick-off conference at the University of Essen in March 7-8, 2017. The following day (March 9) there will be meetings in the working groups. Program and registration will be announced on the website as soon as things are ready, but please save the dates if you are interested in participating. There will be room for both oral and poster presentations and invited speakers (also from outside Europe).
2. Although the Management Committee is a closed forum, anyone can sign up for one or more working groups (WGs). This is most easily done by sending an email with your name and address and a little bit of what you do to the contact address for the working group. Your message will then reach both coordinators of that group.
